Code of Conduct

How we gather.

The symposium is a small, intentional gathering. A few shared commitments keep it that way — for each other, for the desert, and for the work.

Last updated June 17, 2026

Respect for each other

Treat everyone — attendees, presenters, staff, and the people of Moab — with warmth and respect, whatever their background, identity, or experience level. We don't tolerate harassment, demeaning behavior, or discrimination of any kind. Listen generously, give others room, and assume good faith.

Respect for the work

This is a space for honest, supportive feedback, not competition. Share your own vision freely and engage with others' work thoughtfully. Ask before photographing someone, and don't share another attendee's images without their permission.

Respect for the land

The places we work in are fragile and, in many cases, sacred. Follow Leave No Trace principles, stay on durable surfaces, and never touch or disturb cultural or archaeological sites. Follow your field-session leader's guidance, and leave every place as good as — or better than — we found it.

If something goes wrong

If you experience or witness behavior that crosses these lines, tell us. Find any member of the team during the event, or email hello@moabphotographysymposium.com. We take reports seriously and will handle them with discretion. We reserve the right to ask anyone who behaves in a way that harms others or the places we visit to leave the symposium, without a refund.
